Activities in the Forest Garden

When we first came to the Forest Garden, it was a peaceful oasis in town and there were foxes and birds, wildflowers and fruit still growing from when it was an allotment site. We wanted to add to the site but we don't want to take away what made it special and wild.

Here are some of the activities that we've done and need to do. If there are others you'd like to do, talk to us...

Clearing Invasive Plants Japanese Knotweed & Himalayan Balsam ~ Both of these plants are on the site and need clearing until they are wiped out. We have been cutting the Japanese knotweed nearly every year and injecting the hollow stems with Glyphosphate (Roundup).

Planting

We are slowly planting up the Forest Garden. Friends have given us plants and we've taken cuttings and propagated from existing fruit.

Weeding

Keeping weeds down around the fruit trees and bushes. Bindweed (pictured) is the main one.

Finding Funding for Permanent Paths

We've a few ideas for making good paths. But we do need to get some funding together first. Anyone with time or inclination?
